One year after the June 1, 2025, firebombing on Boulder’s Pearl Street Mall, Denver7 spoke with members of Colorado’s Jewish community about loss, safety and resilience.

The attacker threw Molotov cocktails at peaceful marchers with Run For Their Lives, a group calling for the release of the Israeli hostages. Twelve people were injured, and Karen Diamond, 82, died from her injuries weeks later. Mohamed Sabry Soliman has since been sentenced to life in prison without parole.

Brandon Rattiner, senior director of the Jewish Community Relations Council, told Denver7 that antisemitic rhetoric has intensified since the attack and that Jewish communities’ spending on security has only grown. JEWISHcolorado raised $200,000 for victims and for security.

“Antisemitism has gotten worse, and Jews do not feel safer this June 1 than they did last June 1.”

Brandon Rattiner, Jewish Community Relations Council

“We don’t want to give somebody like that the power to make people stay away.”
